  • Aguardando Anomaly de Ace Frehley: Ace Frehley, guitarrista original do KISS, no comercial que marca o lançamento de seu novo álbum.
  • Leveled books for guided reading from Reading A-Z: Reading A-Z is a resource website that has a ton of great ideas for reading and everything associated with it. I would use this website to teach my students poetry because they have lessons that give very detailed examples of poems and how to write them. This was a struggle for me, especially when I taught my students Limericks. I've always been OK with poetry, but this will assist me in teaching them to be good at it. They also have lessons for every genre of poetry, so that helps. Contributed by Saderie Hooks
  • Wacky Web Tales: I also had Houghton Mifflin textbooks, and sometimes used this website during English tutoring sessions. It's called Wacky Web Tales, and it's just an on-line version of Mad Libs. The kids really liked it, and it allowed them to interact with grammar in a different way than we did in the classroom, which was really beneficial. Contributed by Katie Nosek
  • Grammar Blast: I used this website to help my kids review for grammar tests. The games are based on the Houghton Mifflin English series. My kids LOVED the games and the parents thanked me for making studying easier. It was particularly helpful for a students with dyslexia because he could increase the size of the text on the screen to easily accommodate his needs. Contributed by Elizabeth Stewart
  • WritingFix Projects: The Post-It Project...crea ting a community of revisers and editors!: I thought this was the coolest idea for teaching writing and allowing students to take charge in the writing process. At this site, there are post-its, one for each of the 6 traits, that have checklists for students to use when evaluating their writing accoridng to the 6 traits. I would use this in my classroom during writing workshops or whenever we are going through the writing process. This is a great way to encourage students to think about their writing, edit it according to the questions being asked, and show accomplishment in the writing process. Contributed by Saderie Hooks
  • WritingFix: a 6-Trait Writing Lesson that has students impersonate recipes with creative topics: Emotional Recipe Write-ups: Impersonating the voice of a cookbook with a creative topic. Example: A Recipe for Anger Ingredients * 3 cups of whiny and crying sister * 1 teaspoon of can?t find the TV remote * 5 ounces of a broken snowmobile * add a pinch of anything I don?t like to eat for supper * 3 liters of my dog getting hit in the road * 2 quarts of my basketball team losing Instructions First you get a big bowl. Next, put in 3 cups of whiny and crying sister. Then you put in 5 ounces of a broken snowmobile. Stir slowly and let it boil for 10 min. After it has boiled, put in 1 teaspoon of can?t find the TV remote. Then add a pinch of anything I don?t like to eat for supper. Next add 3 liters of my dog getting hit in the road. After all of that, let it bake at 450 degrees for 1 hour. When it is finished, sprinkle on 2 quarts of my basketball team losing. If you don?t get anger right away, have your sister cry some more. Contributed by Katie Nosek
  • WritingFix: Writing Across the Curriculum...E xit Tickets: Exit Tickets a la "The Important Book" This suggests giving prompts for exit cards in the same form that "The Important Book" uses: Example The important thing about the 10 Commandments is that they tell us how to live. God gave them to Moses on Mt. Sinai. They tell about how to love God and how to love each other. But the important thing about the 10 Commandments is that they tell us how to live. Last year offered me numerous opportunity to discuss social issues and matters with my students but it never became anything other than a discussion. At this site, they give ideas for social action through reading and writing that are helpful and solid. It also gets us prepared for service learning which is firestorm currently sweeping the US education system. Contributed by Saderia Hooks
